Idyllic thatched holiday cottage in the Scottish Borders
Rowantree is a truly delightful and charming thatched holiday cottage nestled at the end of the infamous Pennine Way in the conservation village of Kirk Yetholm in Scotland. The cottage dates back to the 1780's and is a Grade II listed building.
The village makes a wonderful base for exploring the numerous Scottish border towns, all of which are steeped in rich history. The area is also renowned for its outstanding countryside with many walks, bridle paths and footpaths on the doorstep including St Cuthbert's Way.
If you feel like heading further afield, the Scottish capital city of Edinburgh is just over an hour away by car (or now by train from Tweedbank thanks to the reinstatement of the Borders Railway) or perhaps a visit to the coast, Berwick-Upon-Tweed or Bamburgh Castle; all within easy reach.
The cottage has been tastefully refurbished and offers quirky yet stylish accommodation. It has two bedrooms, one double and one single. We would say that the cottage is ideally suited to couples looking to escape from it all. However, the single room provides accommodation for one child or indeed another adult.
Child and dog friendly with a larger than average
fully enclosed garden for the type of property.
